A percolator is a somewhat simplified version of a moka pot and was once widely used.
The coffee is placed in a filter attached to the top of the percolator and the electric element heats the water to boiling temperature. The water then circulates through the coffee in the filter a few times before the system automatically shuts off.
After the coffee is brewed, it is kept warm.
